A psychrometer consists of a wet and dry thermometer. The wet thermometer is kept wet by a wet wick around the thermometer in the fluid reservoir. This measures the temperature of the wet wick. The dry thermometer simply measures the temperature of the air. Due to evaporation, the temperature of the wet wick drops and a temperature difference arises between the two thermometers and the relative humidity can then be read via the table.
